The greatest bullfighting figures can be seen in Plasencia's bullring in June and August.
It was inaugurated in 1882 and in 1894 a serious fire destroyed the front rows and stands, which were made of wood. It re-opened in 1896, after the damaged part was repaired with blocks of granite. There are two storeys of stands with a capacity for 6,800 spectators. The outside of the bullring has several buttresses that reinforce the masonry wall and the solidity of the whole architectural structure.
The main bullfights take place in the June fair and on Martes Mayor, the second Tuesday in August.
