For a few days this prehistoric burial site in Almendralejo recovers its original purpose and welcomes winter with activities.
Every December the Huerta Montero burial site is the venue for an event coinciding with the winter solstice, recreating its Bronze Age purpose at this time of the year. When the first rays of sun enter the burial chamber they completely illuminate it, and we can see it just like in the days of the primitive people who built it.
Various activities, such as witnessing this visual phenomenon, an open day, and guided tours of this historic area just some of the activities organized for this event on a site over 4,500 years old.
